Along with cooler temperatures and increased precipitation, the fall season sees some changes in the automobile industry as well. Of course, not all auto manufacturers release all their vehicles at once, but eventually, we do get a close look at them. With Volkswagen, the Atlas was the first model to show up this year and is showing up on sales lots such as Stokes Volkswagen in North Charleston, SC, throughout the country.

What's new for the 2021 Volkswagen model year?

Drivers around Charleston and Summerville will appreciate the new upgrades to the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan. You'll notice a new design on the 17-inch alloy wheels in both the SE and S trims. The SE has also gained adaptive cruise control, and although it was added to the 2020 SEL, driver-assistive is now available on the SE. Nonetheless, the 2021 SEL Premium package gives the copilot position added comfort with a power-adjustable seat.

Options for Powertrain

The 2021 Tiguan now has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. It also comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Standard on the S, SE, and SEL trims is front-wheel drive. The SEL Premium trim comes with standard all-wheel drive, but it is also available as options on the S, SE, and SEL. The estimated mpg on FWD models is 23/29/25, with AWD models coming in at 21/27/24 mpg.

The drivetrain options determine the seating arrangements. Standard on FWD Tiguan models is three-row seating, with AWD models having two-row seating even though three-row seating is available.
