2018 Volkswagen Golf North Charleston SC
You may have noticed a change is happening within the automotive world. Virtually every brand is suddenly carrying a hatchback. Volkswagen? Well, they never stopped. Maybe it’s the German pedigree, as European vehicles tend to be scaled down compared to what Americans commonly seek, but Volkswagen has always maintained that this little hatchback is one of the most practical vehicles to own. The 2018 Volkswagen Golf continues to prove an attractive and affordable option for drivers in the North Charleston SC area, with plenty of cargo space and a peppy engine.
What sets the VW Golf apart from other hatchbacks on the market? Many brands offer a subcompact vehicle, but the Golf is a compact car that is just as good on the highway as it is driving through city streets.
2018 VW Golf Features and Trims
Every year the VW Golf lineup is pared down to the most essential options, based primarily on sales. For this reason, the model is now only offered in the four-door configuration, and has been slimmed to three trim levels: S, SE and SEL. Each trim comes with a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 170 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque when paired with the six-speed automatic transmission. A five-speed manual is standard, which drops the torque down to 184 pound-feet.
There have been a handful of updates for the 2018 Volkswagen Golf, most noticeably to the exterior. LED taillights and DRLs are now standard, along with automatic headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers and a new chrome grille inspired by the Golf Alltrack. The infotainment screen is now a standard 6.5-inch, up from the base 5-inch touchscreen from 2017. Other standard features include power-reclining front seats, cruise control, power windows and locks and VW App-Connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Higher trim levels add on a host of available features, from a larger 8-inch touchscreen display to driver assistance features like Blind Spot Monitoring and Automatic Cruise Control.
