2021 Volkswagen Atlas Gets New Looks and Features

Introduced just a few years ago, the Volkswagen Atlas has quickly become a popular pick for Volkswagen drivers who need family-friendly size and flexibility. This three-row, full-size SUV is perfectly proportioned for hauling kids and cargo. Plus, its hearty capability makes it a great fit for adventure-seekers.

If you're looking for a family-size SUV with a touch of refinement and handsome looks, then you'll love the new Atlas.

Volkswagen has rolled out an appearance update for the new 2021 Atlas. The major difference is in the SUV's front fascia. Both the front grill and headlamps have been reshaped for a sportier look that matches that of the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport.

Aside from its appearance, the 2021 Atlas largely holds over from 2020. You'll find the same configuration inside the cabin. Three rows of seats are standard, allowing for up to seven passengers to ride in comfort. It's easy to fold the rear seats down flat as well. Doing so opens up 98.6 cubic feet of cargo space.

The new 2021 Atlas is loaded with helpful features. These amenities can keep you and your passengers both comfortable and connected throughout your journey.

  • Climatronic 3-Zone Climate Control makes it easy to set temperatures for front and rear passengers alike.
  • Panoramic Sunroof offers plenty of natural light to rear passengers.
  • A standard touchscreen navigation and infotainment system makes it easy to use media features.
  • An available wireless smartphone charger keeps your device ready to use without the need for cables.
  • Available Volkswagen Digital Cockpit offers a configurable display in place of a traditional gauge cluster.

Drivers are sure to be impressed by the performance of the new Volkswagen Atlas. Its standard 2.0-liter engine makes a healthy 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Choose the optional 3.6-liter V6 engine and you'll get 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are connected to a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. Properly equipped, these SUVs can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

The new 2021 Atlas offers features to handle inclement weather near Summerville and Mount Pleasant, SC as well. Its available 4Motion all-wheel drive system can send power to the rear wheels for added grip. Drivers can toggle between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive with the turn of a dial. Plus, there are multiple drive modes to choose from.

Volkswagen understands the importance of safety in its vehicles, and models like the new 2021 Atlas are proof. This SUV offers a variety of driver-assist functions.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control can maintain a set distance from the next vehicle by automatically adjusting vehicle speed.
  • Blind Spot Monitor indicates when there are other vehicles in your blind spots.
  • High Beam Control an automatically switch between low and high beams for maximized visibility.
  • Lane Assist detects when you're about to leave your lane without signaling and alerts you.
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert lets the driver know if there are cars passing behind while in reverse.
  • Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking can detect and react to potential collisions.
